Ad fatigue & frequency
What this section is. Ad fatigue is when an audience has seen the same creative so often that it stops responding and click-through rate slowly declines, the signal to refresh the creative. On Meta and Display we measure this directly with Frequency (average times one person saw an ad); above roughly 3.5 is a warning sign. Google Search has no Frequency metric, because a search is a one-off moment of intent, not repeated exposure, so on Search we watch weekly CTR instead. The catch: CTR also falls when we cut a campaign's budget, when we raise it (a wider budget buys broader, lower intent queries), when we lose ad position, and in a campaign's opening weeks before its query mix settles. None of those is creative fatigue. So we always read CTR next to spend, position and campaign age, and a campaign under four weeks old is never called fatigued.
